Polyester

Polyester is stable against water and its strength hardly changes even when it is wet. For other fibers, as given in the table below, the strength is lower when they are wet than dry. But for polyester, the strength stays the same, whether wet or dry.

Fiber Tensile strength (cN/dtex) Official regain(※1)
(%)
Dry Wet
Polyester 4.1~5.7 4.1~5.7 0.4
Acryl 2.2~4.4 1.8~4.0 2.0
Nylon 4.0~6.6 3.3~5.7 4.5
Rayon 2.2~2.7 1.2~1.8 11.0

※1 Moisture contained in fiber differs according to the air temperature and humidity of the day measured. The moisture percentage closest to the normal condition is referred to as official regain.
