What is focusing lens?

The focusing lens is the last optical device in the laser path. The anti-reflective coating on the surface of the focusing lens is made of zinc selenide (ZnSe), and the focusing lens is usually a plano-convex lens or a curved lunar surface lens. To ensure efficient laser operation, the choice of lens is critical. The type used for each machine is usually indicated in the machine manual. The laser focusing lens is used to focus the collimated light from the laser beam in various laser applications. Laser lenses include a variety of optic lens types, including PCX lenses, aspheric lenses, cylindrical lenses or laser generator lenses. Laser lenses are designed to focus light in several different ways depending on the lens type, such as focusing down to a point, a straight line or a ring. Many different types of lenses can be used in the wavelength range.

Xi'an Huaxing Bofa shares with you about the scanning range of laser focusing lens, hope it will be helpful for you.

What is the role of laser focusing lens?

The diameter of the laser beam used by the laser cutting and engraving machine is approximately one-quarter of an inch (240 one-thousandth). In order to achieve high-quality engraving and precise cutting, the laser beam uses a mirror and focusing lens system to redirect the laser.

The laser system uses a plano-convex lens to focus the laser. The laser enters the convex lenses and starts to converge to a focal point. After passing through the focal point, the light diverges again.

How does a laser lens work?

The steering mirror directs the laser beam to and allows for the movement of the head and gantry transport system. Laser mirrors are designed with a high degree of reflectivity for specific wavelengths or wavelength ranges using a variety of high ware, coatings or a combination of both.

Our optical systems offer a wide range of laser lenses for a variety of laser focusing needs. Different lens types will have different spot sizes, different focal depths (focal tolerance) and different focal lengths producing different results. The focus tolerance (depth of focus) is the area with the smallest beam diameter. The larger the lens, the longer the focal tolerance. The shorter the focal length of the lens, the faster the convergence/divergence, the smaller the focal spot, and the shorter the depth of focus. So the finer the graphic, the smaller the lens should be. When we cut thicker material, it is recommended to use a larger size lens.

Some cautions you need:

1. The output wattage of the laser device.

2. Use and purpose (cutting or engraving).

3. The fineness of the graphic.

4. The thickness of the material to be cut or engraved.

5. The level of resolution.

6. Regarding custom products, we can customize the size of the product, etc.

7. If it's not dirty, please don't clean it! If cleaning is required, use lens paper with solvent to clean the optical lens in a low dust and clean environment.
